Boss Katana Artist Vs Katana 50
The 50 watt version of the new digital amp from boss really impressed me but i wanted to know if the 100 watt version is worth the extra.
Boss katana artist vs katana 50. The magnet in the katana 50 is noticeably smaller than the magnet in the katana 100. The speakers are not the same in the katana 50 and 100 combos. Boss set out to fully capture the rock speaker s sought after sound and response but with the practical benefit of greatly increased power handling. The magnet in the katana 50 is noticeably smaller than the magnet in the katana 100.
I still can t believe the original price point of around 160. A standout feature of the katana artist is its custom waza 12 inch speaker which produces tones inspired by the benchmark 25 watt british stack speaker from the 1960s. So i went with the 50 so that i can bi amp the katana with a small tube amp. Neither the 50 or 100 does mild overdrive really well.
Last week boss announced the katana mkii the successor to its hugely popular mki model. The katana range is unusual in itself due to the fact that it s favored by both stage musicians as well as bedroom guitarists who just want a great sounding practise amp. There are up to 55 customisable effects based on boss pedals and you can store multiple presets with 3 effects on at the same time if necessary. The new updates to the range cover off a few different options including a 100w head and 50 and 100w combos.
The boss katana s have since had a slight price increase which i don t blame boss for at all. It does good clean and crunch sounds. Is the boss katana 50 worth the money. I got my hands on two versions of the boss katana to test.
